Wildrose will amend Education Act post election
EDMONTON, AB (March 21, 2012): The Wildrose Caucus announced today that immediately after the provincial election it will amend Bill 2, the Education Act, to better protect the rights of parents to make choices for their children’s education. PC MLAs have a voted down two Wildrose Bill 2 amendments to better protect parental rights. The first was to make sure parents’ rights would be paramount.
The second was to make sure parents, catholic schools and independent faith-based schools would not be forced to teach subject matter counter to their beliefs. “Clearly, the PCs are not interested in protecting the rights of parents, but there are still many things in Bill 2 that are worth passing. For this reason, the Wildrose Caucus has decided to approve the bill immediately and will bring forward amendments following the election should we be elected government. The Wildrose Caucus stands for free enterprise, less government, increased personal freedom and democracy.
