Wildrose statement on Diabetes Awareness Month
EDMONTON, AB (November 1, 2013): Today, Wildrose Health Critic Heather Forsyth and Medicine Hat MLA Blake Pedersen released the following joint statement on Diabetes Awareness Month.
“November is diabetes awareness month but despite great medical advances in treating diabetes, the number of Albertans living with diabetes or prediabetes is increasing,” Forsyth said. “Untreated, this disease can lead to serious complications like stroke, blindness and kidney failure. Diabetes can also create severe financial burdens for those affected.” “I’m thrilled that in Medicine Hat they will be lighting the TeePee blue to recognize this important month,” Pedersen said. “Knowing your family history is important. Anyone with one or more family members living with the disease is at an increased risk of developing diabetes. Wildrose cares about community health and wellness, and calls on all Albertans to do their part this November raising awareness about this important issue.”
