Following comments from Finance Minister Joe Ceci’s spokesperson that creating a master website for Agencies, Boards and Commissions (ABCs) public disclosure would be “too expensive and time-consuming”, the Wildrose Official Opposition has created their own master database in less than 24 hours.
The database can be accessed here. It contains all available publicly disclosed ABC compensation, accurate to 11 am on June 24, 2016.
“The NDP government took an important first step by publicly disclosing some public sector salaries on their ABC sunshine list,” Wildrose Shadow Finance Minister Derek Fildebrandt said. “However, the information disclosed has been made as difficult to look through as possible. That’s why Wildrose created its own database.”
Wildrose has compiled 2055 names on the public disclosure list. Six have compensation greater or equal to $500,000, 41 have compensation greater or equal to $300,000, 181 have compensation greater or equal to $200,000 and 948 have compensation greater or equal to $125,000.
“Wildrose being able to put together a master list of this information when the NDP government said it wasn’t possible just goes to show that our Official Opposition is more effective and common sense than they will ever be,” Wildrose Shadow Democracy and Accountability Minister Jason Nixon said. “I hope the ability of Wildrose to put together this master list will spur the NDP government to do the same by the time the entire list is available on June 30, 2016.”
