Wildrose Caucus unanimously supports Leader, asks for withdrawal of leadership review request
CALGARY, AB ( November 2, 2014): At a caucus meeting today, Wildrose MLAs unanimously endorsed a resolution put forward by Airdrie MLA and Opposition House Leader Rob Anderson asking for the withdrawal of the leadership review request made by Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith on Oct. 28.
The resolution was debated and voted on without the Leader present.
“Caucus members are united in their support of Danielle Smith and are confident that she is the best choice to continue to move our party forward into the next election,” Airdrie MLA and Opposition House Leader Rob Anderson said.
The request to withdraw the leadership review from the agenda of the upcoming Wildrose AGM will now be put before the party executive for consideration.
"I am humbled and honoured to have the unanimous support of my caucus colleagues. Our focus will now turn to the upcoming fall legislative session and the important work we need to do on behalf of Albertans," Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith said. "We will continue to hold the government to account and present positive alternatives that put Albertans first.”
Caucus is also pleased to announce the hiring of Steve Rennick as Chief of Staff for the Wildrose Official Opposition. Mr. Rennick served as Director of Communications to Government Caucus in Saskatchewan and has significant political and government experience.
