Wildrose caucus to donate $5K to Typhoon Haiyan disaster relief, urges Alberta government to provide aid
EDMONTON, AB (November 12, 2013): Today, Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith announced the Wildrose Caucus Foundation will donate $5,000 in disaster relief for Typhoon Haiyan and urged the Alberta government to provide financial assistance. “After facing the worst natural disaster in our province’s history, it is as important as ever to return the overwhelming generosity we received during the June flooding to our Filipino community overseas.
“That is why members of our Wildrose Caucus have agreed to donate $5,000 to the Red Cross to assist in disaster recovery through the Wildrose Caucus Foundation. We encourage all Albertans who are looking to assist financially to donate through the Red Cross here http://wildro.se/1o0 and note the Government of Canada will match your donation. “We also strongly urge the Alberta government to immediately match the financial generosity that our provincial partners have shown to assist in the relief efforts for those most affected by the disaster. “On behalf of the Wildrose, we extend our deepest condolences and thoughts to our friends in the Philippines facing the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan and to all Albertans who are dealing with the anxiety and grief this storm has caused to their homeland, families and friends. As Albertans, we will stand strong with our friends here at home and across the world in facing this tragedy.”
