Wildrose statement on Red Deer dialysis decision
RED DEER, AB (April 25, 2014): Today, Wildrose MLAs Kerry Towle and Heather Forsyth issued the following joint statement regarding AHS’ decision to provide additional dialysis support at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
“Wildrose welcomes today’s news that AHS will expand their dialysis capacity at Red Deer Regional Hospital, providing added support and eliminating the need for three dialysis patients to travel outside the city for dialysis treatment.
“Albertans have a right to core medical services like dialysis and this situation was frustrating to them given recent news about wasteful, executive expenses at AHS.
“This is – however – only a short term change, and Wildrose urges AHS to find a way to permanently provide expanded dialysis support at Red Deer Regional Hospital going forward.
“AHS must consistently provide the front lines with the resources they need to give Albertans the level of patient care they expect and deserve.”
Towle asked Horne about dialysis issues at Red Deer Regional Hospital on April 9. Watch the exchange here.
