Towle celebrates National Seniors Day and the International Day of Older Persons

EDMONTON, AB (October 1, 2013): Today, Wildrose Seniors Critic Kerry Towle released the following statement recognizing National Seniors Day and the International Day of Older Persons.

“We all owe a great deal of gratitude to our seniors in building and shaping our province into the wonderful place it is today and for their ongoing contributions to our society, either through their volunteer work or personal giving.  “National Seniors Day and the International Day of Older Persons give us all a tremendous opportunity to celebrate our seniors, to spend time with loved ones and to confront the challenges faced for our seniors as they age.   “Here in Alberta, it is an important day to remember the several issues seniors continue to face.  Several hundred seniors continue to be stuck in hospitals waiting for placement in long-term care beds, while many others continue to face the challenges of making ends meet on fixed incomes with costs rising on power bills and prescription drugs.  “The Wildrose believes in putting Albertans first.  That’s why I will continue to fight for a Seniors Advocate so seniors can know they have an independent voice, free from government that will ensure that no senior in our province is left without a voice.”
