Smith to Redford: Keep your promise on no-meet committee

EDMONTON, AB (May 30, 2012): Premier Alison Redford should produce proof that PC MLAs who collected $1,000-month on the No-Meet committee have paid the money back or keep her promise to kick out of caucus MLAs who don’t pay the money back.

The following PC MLAs at one point sat on the Standing Committee on Privileges and Elections, Standing Orders and Printing, whose members collected $1,000 a month to sit on it even when it never met:  Moe Amery – Calgary-East Pearl Calahasen – Lesser Slave Lake Alana DeLong – Calgary-Bow Genia Leskiw – Bonnyville-Cold Lake Bridget Pastoor – Lethbridge-East Dave Quest – Strathcona Gene Zwozdesky – Edmonton-Mill Creek Jeff Johnson – Athabasca-Redwater George Rogers – Leduc-Beaumont Naresh Bhardwaj – Edmonton-Ellerslie Frank Oberle – Peace River Doug Griffiths – Battle River-Wainwright  During the provincial election, Redford ordered her MLAs to repay the committee money and said “Any MLAs who do not will not have a place in my caucus.”  In Question Period today, Wildrose Official Opposition Leader Danielle Smith asked Redford to prove her MLAs have repaid the money or live up to her commitment to remove them from her caucus.  “Wildrose members have shown leadership by long since paying back all of the funds they received from this committee,” Smith said. “Will the Premier show that she has kept her election promise and tomorrow table proof her MLAs have paid back all of the money owed?”
