CALGARY, AB (April 29, 2014): Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith today released the following statement on the resignation of Brian Mason as NDP Leader:
“Brian’s service to his party, his constituents and his province have been exemplary. Throughout his tenure as NDP leader, Brian has served with courage and class while effectively holding the government to account on a wide range of issues. Brian can be proud that his leadership and determination have made a meaningful difference in the lives of many Albertans.
“In the Legislature as well as in the media, Brian has an uncanny ability to communicate complex issues in concise and often humourous ways. He is often as witty as he was insightful in his criticisms of the government. His sense of humour and approachable demeanor made the Legislature a better place.
“On a personal note, I have learned a tremendous amount from Brian on how to be an effective MLA and party leader. In the short time we’ve worked together as leaders, Brian has always reminded me that politics and leadership are about standing up for every day Albertans.
“I look forward to continuing to work with Brian as an MLA and wish him all the best in his post-leadership career.”
