EDMONTON, AB (October 15, 2013): Today, Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith released the following statement recognizing Eid al-Adha. “Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, is one of the most sacred and important days in the calendar for Muslims here in Alberta and around the world.
“It marks the conclusion of the Hajj, or the pilgrimage to Mecca as millions of Muslims from around the world gather in the holy city in Saudi Arabia every year. “For Muslims here in Alberta who are not able to perform the pilgrimage, they will gather for congregational prayers and celebrate for the following three days through charitable donations, joining with family and friends while enjoying festive meals. “Today also gives all Albertans an opportunity to learn more about the Muslim community and their ongoing contributions here in our beautiful province. “On behalf of my colleagues in the Wildrose Official Opposition, I’d like to extend my very best wishes for all celebrating Eid al-Adha here in Alberta and around the world.” To see the Smith’s video statement, click here.
