Statement from Danielle Smith on tonight's Quebec election results
OKOTOKS, AB (September 4, 2012): Wildrose Official Opposition Leader Danielle Smith released the following statement on tonight’s provincial election in Quebec:
“On behalf of Alberta’s official opposition, I’d like to congratulate Pauline Marois and the Parti Quebecois on their election result this evening.
“Wildrose believes Quebec is an important part of a united Canada and urges the new Quebec government to heed tonight’s results that showed a majority of Quebeckers voting for leaders and parties who share a federalist vision for the province.
“It is our hope that Quebec’s new government sets aside its separatist aspirations in favour of tackling issues of importance to all Quebeckers. Now is not the time for a divisive national unity debate.
“Together, we can work positively towards balanced budgets, effective and affordable social programs and, ultimately, a stronger federation.”
