Reality Check: PCs Still Out Of Touch On Healthcare
Today, the Alison Redford PCs announced yet another misguided policy on healthcare and more empty facilities! Rather than focus on real reforms that Albertans need, the Redford PCs would like to create two levels of medical crisis: emergency and “fast-track” emergency.
Definition of Emergency: a sudden, urgent, usually unexpected occurrence or occasion requiring immediate action/a state, especially of need for help or relief, created by some unexpected event. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/emergency?s=t)
Definition of PCs “Fast-track Emergency”: a political gimmick that will create even more backlogs and increase pressure on our already stressed hospital emergency rooms. Or possibly, it refers to the preferential access PC politicians and their friends are alleged to have received, forcing a judicial inquiry on political queue-jumping.
During the empty emergency rooms announcement Redford went on to tout the other costly, empty clinics that the PCs announced earlier in the week, with still no understanding that empty buildings do not provide patient care, medical professionals do. Unlike Wildrose, the PCs offer no credible plan to increase the number of trained medical professionals.
And once again, the Redford PCs make a lavish campaign promise and provide no costing details, which can only mean that this is yet another unbudgeted political ploy that will be paid for by raising taxes and driving Alberta deeper into deficit.
Only Wildrose has a credible plan to ensure shorter patient waiting times for Alberta families through its Patient Wait Times Guarantee.
Isn’t it about time the PCs put patients and their needs at the front of the line?
Wildrose stands for free enterprise, less government, increased personal freedom, and democracy.
