Rich’s volunteer experience with Wildrose began in 2011, with the board of the Edmonton-Calder Constituency Association. He served in a number of positions, and later ran as the candidate for the constituency during the 2012 General Election. Volunteering for a number of other campaigns at the provincial and federal level has provided him with a good understanding of the infrastructure required to support an effective election effort.
Rich grew up in north Edmonton, and graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc in Forestry in 1998. After working for a short time for the City of Edmonton in the Forestry Division, he and a small group of business partners purchased an equipment rental business in 2002.
Guiding the business through good and bad times – including the credit crisis of 2008 – was an education for him in many ways. The action of the Alberta government, instituting a royalty review during the financial crisis, was a clear learning experience about how bad government policy decisions can affect businesses and the economy.
Rich, his wife and three children live in Edmonton-Rutherford.
