PC Culture of Corruption Exhibit G - Anderson to Redford: Show some 'real life leadership,' roll back pay hikes
EDMONTON, AB (March 12, 2012): Today, Wildrose MLA Rob Anderson challenged Premier Alison Redford in Question Period to finally rollback the 34% pay increase she voted for in 2008 right after the last election.
Redford, who is currently the highest paid Premier in Canada, refused to make that commitment despite asking her PC colleagues to take a mere two-week cut in committee pay before the election.
“Will you roll back the ridiculous 34% salary increase you gave yourself 4 years ago right after the election, and return that money before the election to show you are willing to sacrifice some of your own wrongful gains, and not just those of your caucus members?” Anderson asked.
The Wildrose has committed to eliminating committee pay, creating a single fully taxable MLA salary, cutting MLA salaries by 5%, rolling back the 30% pay raise Redford and her cabinet gave themselves and slashing MLA severance by two thirds. The Wildrose Caucus stands for free enterprise, less government, increased personal freedom and democracy.
