Jean statement on new pipeline approval rules
Today, Wildrose Leader Brian Jean released the following statement on new federal rules for the approval of pipelines in Canada:
“This announcement of more red tape and more delays, specifically around Energy East and Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, is disappointing.
“Pipelines are the safest and least carbon-intensive way to move oil, plain and simple.
“The US State Department has comprehensively demonstrated in their analysis of Keystone XL that pipelines have no net impact on carbon emissions, especially in comparison to rail transportation.
"The National Energy Board pipeline review process is one of the most thorough in the world, and I’m discouraged that today’s announcement will further delay these common sense decisions on projects that will benefit Canada’s economy
“Albertans want assurances their governments are working to build pipelines in a timely manner, and this decision only creates further confusion and uncertainty.”
