Today, Wildrose Shadow Health Minister Drew Barnes released the following statement after Alberta Health Services announced its plan to extend Dynalife’s contract for lab services in Edmonton and northern Alberta:
“It’s clear that Health Minister Sarah Hoffman has completely mismanaged this file. For over a year-and-a-half, the minister dithered on lab services which has resulted in nothing more than a sole-source contract extension. This is not acting in the best interests of Albertans.
“With a ballooning health care budget, declining outcomes for patients and an $10.9 billion deficit, every penny saved by this government matters. This contract should have been put out for competitive bid in an attempt to get the best deal for taxpayers and it is profoundly disappointing that it was not.”
