Danielle Smith statement on passing of Premier Ralph Klein
HIGH RIVER, AB (March 29, 2013): Wildrose Official Opposition Leader Danielle Smith issued the following statement on the passing of former Premier Ralph Klein: “I was deeply saddened to hear of Premier Klein’s passing. “Throughout a distinguished political career as Mayor of Calgary, a provincial cabinet minister and, finally, as Premier, ‘Ralph,’ as he became affectionately known, earned a reputation as a leader committed to his principles and connected to his constituents.
“As a leader, Ralph was tough enough to keep his promises, humble enough to admit his mistakes, and disciplined enough to follow through on his vision. His courageous leadership in eliminating Alberta’s budget deficit, wiping out our debt and putting money in the bank made Alberta a world leader in fiscal responsibility and paved the way for other governments to follow suit. “Albertans will remember Ralph for his warmth, his dedication to his family and his province, and for his commitment to the people he served. “On behalf of the Wildrose Official Opposition, I extend my deepest condolences to Ralph’s wife Colleen and the rest of his family, and I join all Albertans in remembering the life and legacy of Premier Ralph Klein.”
