Another day, yet another taxpayer dollar spent on advertising NDP mistakes: Wildrose
Following the bizarre decision by the NDP government to file a lawsuit over Power Purchasing Arrangements against two of its own agencies and against Enmax, a company owned by the people of Calgary, the NDP government is now doubling down on misuse of taxpayer dollars by promoting their frivolous lawsuit through ad buys, the Wildrose Official Opposition said today.
The taxpayer funded ad appeared in the Calgary Herald today, and may be set to run in other papers throughout Calgary.
“The NDP government must clarify just how many more taxpayer dollars are being spent on this ad campaign,” Wildrose Leader Brian Jean said. “After admitting to Albertans that power bills will be going up, the NDP pattern of doubling down on bad ideas by sticking taxpayers with the bill for expensive ad campaigns continues. Albertans are worried enough about the economy and how they’re going to pay their own bills, let alone the bills of the NDP government.”
Wildrose has previously questioned the spending of an astounding $4.4 million on a carbon tax ad campaign by the NDP government, and over a million more on promoting their budgets that are plunging our province into debt and deficit.
“This lawsuit using Alberta taxpayer dollars against a electricity company owned by Calgarians in a Calgary paper doesn’t pass the smell test for everyday Albertans,” Wildrose Shadow Electricity and Renewables Minister Don MacIntyre said. “Rather than forging ahead with this lawsuit and spending taxpayer dollars to promote it, the NDP government should drop the lawsuit, work collaboratively with Alberta’s electricity companies, and focus instead on lowering prices for Albertans.”
Wildrose will continue to be on the side of everyday Albertans and keep questioning the NDP government’s policies that are deeply founded in ideology over common sense.
