Anglin statement on Alberta Energy Regulator appointees

EDMONTON, AB (July 25, 2013): Wildrose Environment Critic Joe Anglin released the following statement today after the appointment of four hearing commissioners to the new Alberta Energy Regulator:

“Today’s appointees have a tall task in front of them – to balance the need for streamlined and expedient regulatory approvals while protecting landowners, the environment and the public interest. “Wildrose has been clear since the single regulator was proposed: We support timely approvals of energy projects in order to keep our resource sector competitive with other jurisdictions, but not at the expense of our natural environment or landowner rights. This government has a less than stellar track record of protecting both and the regulator has a lot of work to do to repair this reputation. “As the Official Opposition Environment Critic, I will be keeping a watchful eye on the regulator’s activities and rulings to make sure it lives up to these tremendous responsibilities.”
