EDMONTON, AB (September 26, 2013): Coming off a successful debate series debut at the University of Alberta last week and another last night in Medicine Hat, Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith today announced two new dates, bringing the total number of debates between Smith and NDP Leader Brian Mason to eight.
Smith and Mason will now debate at the University of Alberta Augustana Campus in Camrose on Oct. 1 and at Keyano College in Fort McMurray on Oct. 8. The debate series kicked off at the University of Alberta on Sept. 18 with over 400 students in attendance. Round Two was last night in Medicine Hat and Round Three goes tonight in Lethbridge. “The response to these debates that we’ve gotten from students across Alberta has been tremendous and it’s exciting to see more post-secondary institutions getting on board,” Smith said. “Clearly, there is a real hunger out there amongst the next generation of Alberta’s leaders for an open and honest exchange of ideas about what the province is going to look like once the PC government is defeated.” Topics the leaders will discuss include revenue and expenses, the economy, public service delivery and the overall political landscape in Alberta. “As we debate ideas, Wildrose will continue to put forward a vision of a new government that respects tax dollars, eliminates waste and mismanagement, and focuses on delivering good public services,” Smith said.
